The first phase project of the terminal building boasts a total floor area of over 300,000 square meters, making the airport capable of handling 25 million person-times annually and 9,300 person-times during peaking hours. The first phase of the passenger plane apron has 66 parking spaces, of which 46 has loading bridge, 18 are remote ones and two are reserved parking space. Cargo plane apron now has five parking spaces. The airfield, which is up to the 4E standard, can accommodate all types of large civil airplanes currently in service. The east runway is 3,800 meters in length and 60 meters in width, whereas the west runway is 3,600 meters long and 45 meters wide. The number of runways will reach three according to the long-term plan, but it will be raised to five eventually, boosting airport’s annual handling capacity to 80 million person-times and 2.5 million tons of cargo, mail and luggage.
The new airport has an 83,200-square-meter warehouse for cargo storage, whose accessory facilities cover an area of 29,000 square meters. Aiming toward handling 1 million tons of cargo a year by 2010, it is a modern integrated warehouse with automatic and semi-automatic cargo handling systems.
An improved modern information system has been incorporated in the airport. A world-class luggage handling system and a five-stage security inspection system have been introduced. The intellectualized information systems have optimized the configuration of the airport resources, thus allowing an efficient real-time sharing of airport operation data.
